Job Description:
Multiple Openings. Software Engineer III (Operational
Engineering/Self Service) for Wayfair LLC in Boston, MA to apply the principles of software engineering to engineer and
integrate self-service order processing applications across Wayfair’s current platforms; develop software algorithms
to streamline back end business workflow; design, develop, and integrate full-stack software development using
multiple technologies such as .NET, PHP, SQL, JavaScript, or HTML; perform SQL database development,
performance tuning, and data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL); develop enhanced self-service features for
viewing order information, and for setting up returns, cancellations, and other high impact post order actions;
architect and lead major system improvement initiatives; build systems that are highly performant, reliable, and fault tolerant
for users across the US, Canada, and Europe; and mentor junior Engineers and review code. Requires Master's
degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (willing to
accept foreign education equivalent) plus two years' experience performing front-end design and development using
Java, .Net, and SQL or, alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information
Systems, Engineering, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five years' experience
performing front-end design and development using Java, .Net, and SQL. One year of experience must include:
Performing web development using web programming languages including JavaScript and SQL, to ensure cross-browser
and cross-platform compatibility; Performing version control using GIT, PVCS, TFS, or SVN; Performing design
and development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create scalable applications; Designing back-end applications
using object-oriented programming language like C#, JAVA, PHP, HTML, or JavaScript; Employing engineering and
optimization best practices regarding frontend web standards, code maintainability, page rendering, and browser
performance; Defining test plans and performing unit testing; Performing SQL database development including
designing, queries, triggers and stored procedures, performance tuning, and performing data ETL; Utilizing
deployment tools such as Jenkins, VSTS, or Puppet to deploy application code into server environments; Interfacing with
business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design; and
Leading major development initiatives and mentoring junior team members. Wayfair LLC is willing to accept a suitable combination of
