Under the direction of the Chief Development & Marketing
Officer, and in accordance with the goals and objectives of the
Merrimack Valley YMCA, the Development Director must possess a
thorough understanding of and experience in fundraising best
practices with emphasis on annual fund and special events. The
director will develop, implement and monitor a comprehensive annual
fundraising plan to expand philanthropic support of the
YMCA-including identifying and strengthening relationships with
donors and sponsors. The position is for a self-directed,
innovative and creative person. The incumbent must have the ability
to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social
and economic segments of the community while articulating the Y's
purpose, mission, and demonstrating the Y's character

colleagues.Essential Functions
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan
which includes annual fund campaign and special events that
effectively and efficiently meet the goals of the association.
- Oversee the data management of all gifts and conduct regular
analysis and reporting of annual campaign and special event
progress.
- Develop strong relationships with staff, donors, volunteers and
sponsors.
- Provide leadership to special event committees, and annual
campaign committees
- Manage and implement an organized system of communications and
face-to-face visits internally and externally to provide
stewardship to all MVYMCA annual and special event donors regarding
the impact of their gifts
- Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a personal portfolio
of prospects including individuals, businesses and
corporations.
- Support the overall fundraising efforts of the association as
directed by the Chief Development & Marketing OfficerQualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with two or more years
fundraising experience in annual giving campaigns and special
events.
- Proven experience in cultivating and soliciting leadership
level gifts.
- Familiarity with the principles of annual campaign organization
and marketing.
- Experience in working closely with volunteers and in staffing
volunteer committees/events.
- Excellent writing, organizational and communication
skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to
questions from groups of managers, volunteers, senior leaders, and
the general public.
- Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission of the
YMCA.
