$2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS after 90 days of employment Bulger Veterinary Hospital is looking to hire a full-time Ophthalmology Technician to join our team at our location in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Our Technicians work closely with the Ophthalmologist to assist in their surgical and medical treatment of eye problems. They will provide support and customized care of our client and patients. Responsibilities: Assist with consults in the exam rooms Take history, perform STT, evaluate PLR, conduct preliminary evaluation of anterior chamber and notify the doctor of any irregularities Perform tonometry, fluorescein stain and dilate Record information in client/patient medical record during exam Present treatment plans and explain procedures to clients as needed Explain medications, discharge instructions and treatments with the owners to assure they understand the doctors instructions Assist with ophthalmologic procedures Become proficient in the use and care of specialized ophthalmic surgical equipment and microsurgical instruments Assist and monitor recovery of post op patients Hospitalized Patient Care Communicate daily with the treatment technicians regarding the care of hospitalized ophtho patients to ensure completion of scheduled treatments. Provide updates on ophtho patients to their owners as necessary Ensure cleanliness and maintain ophtho areas and equipment Maintain stock in the ophtho exam rooms Assist with follow up phone calls as needed Perform other duties as assigned Skills and Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience as a practicing veterinary technician Comprehensive understand and experience with anesthetic monitoring is required Ability to become well versed in Veterinary Ophthalmology in order to provide best medicine and ensure effective client communication The ophthalmology technician: Must be reliable, organized, and adaptable to changes within the departments of the hospital Will maintain a high standard of patient care Must be able to communicate well with clients by showing care and concern for them as well as their pet(s) Will serve as a representative of the hospital, displaying consideration, courtesy, compassion, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, clients, and hospital staff Education, License and Job Requirements: Candidates with an Associates or Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology will be considered. CVT, LVT, or VTS preferred Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required. Maintain a positive outlook and ability to work well in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected. Schedule: Full time 36 hours, up to 3 holidays a year.
