Job Description:

GLFHC is currently seeking a Registered Dietitian. Registered Dietitian delivers nutrition education and medical nutrition therapy (MNT) services to individuals and groups across the lifespan for prevention, wellness and disease management. Works hand-in-hand with referring providers and multidisciplinary care team to deliver coordinated care. Participates in the Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) program as directed. RD's supervise the work of Nutrition Assistants as needed. Conducts individual nutrition assessment based on food and nutrition related history, anthropometric data, medical history, biochemical data, socioeconomic factors and other considerations. Develops implements and coordinates an appropriate plan of care based on the assessment, practice guidelines, cultural norms, readiness, goals and psychosocial needs of the individual. Counsels individuals/families on nutritional principles and dietary plans adapted to the individual's lifestyle, economic and cultural needs. Helps to coordinate nutrition education with other departments and community groups. This may include Healthy Living Group Visits, Healthy Weight Clinic and training/in-service opportunities for health center staff to gain knowledge about nutrition and healthy lifestyles. Helps to compile and develop culturally sensitive nutrition assessment/education materials for individual or group education needs. Helps to coordinate Nutrition services at all Greater Lawrence Family Health Center sites to ensure optimal nutrition for health center clients. Registered Dietitians who are also Certified Diabetes Educators may address insulin initiation and insulin delivery as needed. Qualifications Minimum of one year experience in community health care and/or clinical settings and experience with multicultural groups highly desirable. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Certified as Diabetes Educator preferred. Education Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics. Master's Degree in Public Health with a major in Nutrition preferred. Registered with the American Dietetic Association Commission on Dietetic Registration and/or Licensed with the Massachusetts Board of Dietitians and Nutritionists. Current BLS certification.
