We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN)
with certification in
Sensory Integration for Dementia/Alzheimer's Person-Centered Care
to join our skilled nursing
team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional nursing care
tailored to the unique needs of
patients with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, focusing on sensory
integration techniques to
enhance their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
o Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with dementia and
Alzheimer's
disease, utilizing sensory integration techniques.
o Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patients' physical,
psychological,
and sensory needs.
o Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration
with
multidisciplinary teams.
o Monitor and document patients' progress and responses to sensory
integration
interventions.
Sensory Integration:
o Apply sensory integration strategies to improve cognitive
function, reduce
agitation, and enhance the overall well-being of patients.
o Use various sensory modalities (visual, auditory, tactile,
olfactory, and
proprioceptive) to create a therapeutic environment.
o Train and support staff and family members in the use of sensory
integration
techniques.
Medication Administration:
o Administer medications accurately and safely, according to
physician orders and
established protocols.
o Monitor patients for side effects and interactions and adjust
care plans as
needed.
Patient and Family Education:
o Provide education to patients and their families about dementia,
Alzheimer's
disease, and sensory integration techniques.
o Offer support and resources to families, helping them understand
and manage
their loved ones' conditions.
Collaboration and Communication:
o Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare
professionals to
coordinate comprehensive care.
o Maintain clear and timely communication with patients, families,
and the
healthcare team.
Documentation and Compliance:
o Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, ensuring
compliance with all
healthcare regulations and facility policies.
o Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to
the development
of best practices in dementia care.
Professional Development:
o Stay current with advances in dementia care and sensory
integration techniques
through continuing education and professional development.
o Participate in training sessions and workshops as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Associate Degree in Nursing
(ADN) with relevant experience considered.
Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the
state of [State].
Certification: Certification in Sensory Integration for
Dementia/Alzheimer's Person[1]Centered Care required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a skilled
nursing or long-term
care setting. Experience with dementia and Alzheimer's patients
preferred.
