Job Summary: Outreach/Education Worker provides education and outreach activities to inform Lawrence residents and property owners about lead poisoning prevention and the the availability of Lead Abatement funding through the City of Lawrence. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities: ? Works under the supervision of the Lead Program Director. ? Disseminates information to property owners, investors, tenants and the general public. ? Assists in initiating referrals to the City of Lawrence Lead Abatement Program ? Participates in childhood lead poisoning prevention health education to parents, health care providers, social service providers, community development agencies, and family support programs. ? Assists in initiating and/or increasing collaboration with other organizations. ? Participates in local health fairs, festivals, and other community events. ? Attends monthly/quarterly meetings as needed and prepares monthly/quarterly reports as required. Skills & Qualifications: ? High School Diploma or GED required. ? Minimum of two years? experience in education and/or outreach. ? Ability to read/write and express oneself in English a must. ? Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) is strongly preferred ? Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills ? Must have basic computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook ? Access to reliable transportation ? Must have a suitable CORI and SORI completed within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Other: Supervisory Responsibility: None Travel: Required Physical Demands: This job regularly requires the employee to sit, walk and stand as well as use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard equipment. This employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines.
