St. Paul’s School announces a search for a position of Associate Director of College Advising
to begin duties in the summer of 2022. College Advisers at St. Paul’s are full-time members of the faculty, with
all associated responsibilities involved in working at a fully residential school. This multifaceted position calls
upon a range of talents, skills, and experiences. SPS college advisors are responsible for working closely with
students, parents, and colleagues at colleges and universities in person, via videoconference, and on the
telephone. The job places an emphasis on teamwork as well as both excellent writing and interpersonal
skills. College advisers participate in national conferences, visit colleges, host receptions and individual meetings
with college representatives, and have a willingness to maintain a flexible schedule when parents of our students
travel to the School. College advisers also need to be available by email and/or phone for most or all of the year.

St. Paul’s seeks applications from candidates who will promote the School’s commitment to attracting and
retaining a highly talented and diverse faculty. A successful candidate will embrace the fully residential living
experience and have a demonstrated gift for engaging a diverse student body and strengthening St. Paul’s
inclusive community. In addition to teaching or administrative responsibilities, faculty at St. Paul’s School are
responsible for a variety of activities typical to the boarding school environment, including advising, dormitory
association, coaching, committee work and other duties.



Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree (or higher) preferred.

Skills and traits: Strong interpersonal skills; proficiency, expertise, and comfort as a high-volume writer;
excellent public speaking and communication skills; collaborative approach to working with a team toward
common goals; ability to manage various professional responsibilities simultaneously; commitment to supporting
the mission and values of the School and the College Advising Office.

Experience: At least 3-5 years of college advising and/or college admissions experience is strongly
preferred. As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be committed to working and living with
adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
