the need for us to hire a Safety Manager who will assume
responsibility for the Company's EHS Program including
implementation, execution, delivery, training, communication,
documentation and regular auditing of safety policies, procedures,
and standards, with the primary goal of eliminating vehicle,
customer site and workplace incidents and injuries. The successful
candidate will be a demonstrated leader who influences behavior and
inspires commitment on the part of all team members in complying
with safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. Are
you ready for this career move? The Safety Specialist will:
Audit existing safety-related policies and procedures and recommend
changes to ensure ongoing compliance with local, state, and federal
environment health and safety (EHS) regulations including but not
limited to OSHA, Fire Departments, Department of Transportation,
State OSHA, and other similar agencies.
Review, evaluate, and analyze work environments, practices and
methods for compliance with OSHA, Abel Womack and Customer EHS
Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks
and improved work methodologies and practices to ensure the safety
of all workers.
Design and communicate programs, procedures and initiatives for our
facilities, service vans and in "field work" to prevent accidents
and injuries and enhance our safety culture. Motivate and lead
creative problem-solving efforts.
Serve as resident expert of Abel Womack Safety Plan and as liaison
to customers, internal department leaders and vendors.
Conduct on-site safety visits in all Abel Womack facilities and in
the field including company owned vehicles and customer
Ensure dissemination of, and compliance with, our customers'
documented Safety Regulations in partnership with department and
Complete all Contractor Safety Pre-qualifier and Vendor/Contractor
Safety Documentation requests in a timely manner.
Maintain up-to-date web-site/portal credentials for completion of
Drive internal Safety Training programs.
Ensure timely investigations into workplace incidents. Ensure
incidents are reported and corrective action has been identified
and implemented. Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to
management, including ergonomic considerations, in all such
Evaluate and analyze company safety data, OSHA Logs and our
insurance company reports to determine critical safety trends to
prevent future incidents and suggests relevant training or
Lead safety committee meetings, as required, to promote the health
and safety of our associates, our facilities, our customers and the
environment. Act as subject matter expert when appropriate; making
recommendations to the management team as needed. Assume
responsibility for follow up on such recommendations.
Communicate organization's emergency plans and coordinate required
Participate in TPS/5S, ASEC and LEAN Program activities. Work
closely with the Company's ASEC/LEAN Manager and the LEAN Champions
to develop and sustain Standard Work Practices to ensure all
ASEC/LEAN safety considerations are met.
Bachelors' Degree or equivalent work experience in business,
industrial safety, HR or related field.
2-5 years' experience in an industrial safety role or equivalent
combinations of training and related experience.
Working knowledge of OSHA and ANSI Standards.
Understanding of material handling equipment, warehousing and
transportation are highly regarded
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Polished
Demonstrated ability to positively motivate and influence others
and lead creative problem-solving efforts.
Experience designing and delivering safety-related training
Professional certification preferred but not required.
Ability to travel frequently, by car, within New England and New
York, including occasional overnight travel
An organized, systematic approach to documentation management,
ability to prioritize work, and demonstrated follow-through
Strong computer and data analysis skills, required.
